Magazine Advert Analysis- Beyonce

As we need to create our own magaziner advert for our music video, I have analysed another artists magazine advert so that we know what type of things we need to include into ours to make it look professional. There are a number of aspects in Beyonce's one which we may try and include in ours as our music video is the same genre of music.

Not Enough Footage

On Wednesday 13th November our media group went to London to film footage for our music video. We filmed at a variety of different locations and filmed both narrative and performance scenes we could use to put in our video. During filming we was faced with a variety of different problems the main one being we did not film enough footage for our video. This has resulted in us having to go back to London to film more, while filming we did not realise that what we was filming/filmed was not long enough to put in our video. Needing to go back to London to film more has caused an inconvenience with our group as we dont want to take any more days off school and all our members of the group have part time jobs at the weekend which is making it hard for us to plan a day to go and film. Also by not having our music video completely filmed its put our group behind with editing and finishing all evaluations and blogposts, time is another effect not filming enough footage has had on our group. From this we have learnt that in the future we need to film long sequences of singing and dancing as well as the narrative side of our video to ensure there is enough to put together when it comes to editing.

Weather

As we are filming during winter months, and many of our locations are outside, checking the weather was vital for our group. We wanted the weather to be dry and as sunny as possible, this is obviously because we will be outside and travelling through London all day with our filming equipment which would be effected by the rain. We constantly checked weather forecasts so that we could get fimlimg done as soon as possible to so that we could continue onto editing our music video. On days that we found would have appropriate weather, we all arranged to do our fimling that takes place in London, this is because this is where we were doing most filming, and also because all our London locations were outside and not sheltered. When we checked for this week, Saturday looked ideal for fimling as it is meant to be sunny with no rain, this means our locations will be in a dry condition and the natural light from the sun would compliment our shots.

Complications Of Filming

Filming prop- Club Poster

This poster is used in one of our narrative scenes; the scene involves Nicole (main character), Amy and Lydia. They notice the poster on the wall advertising a big 'Kisstory' night, adding to the 'party' conventions.

Diary Of A Day Shooting

When: Wednesday 23th October
Where: Decendant Tunnel (under A12)

What: Firstly met at Lydia Mecklenburgh's house to prepare Nicole for the days shooting ahead. We then drove to Ingatestone where a tunnel under the main road is situated and this is one of our chosen locations for our music video. We set the camera up on the tripod and produced a number of different shots and angles. We also decided to take a few pictures which could be used for our album cover or even our advert to promote our music video.
We directed Nicole to do a number of moves and facial expressions to show to the audience that she is enthusiastic and looks like she could be in a real music video. We want our music video to look as professional as possible which we thought Nicole did really well to do this. We also included some lip syncing shots of Nicole so we can cut and change between different shots, to give variety and excitement for the audience who watch it.
We gained alot of footage to give us more of a choice when we edit, this would also make it easier for us and we can then make the music video how we actually imagined and planned it to be. This scene and location was influenced by Cheryl Cole's - Call My Name video.

This day was perfect to chose this location to film as it was raining outside, which would have ruined our footage if we were to go up to London and do it then. Being undercover gave us alot more time and allowed us to get more shots of Nicole to be able to make editing easier with more video. We spent most of the day in this location to gain as much footage as possible to give us better options when it came to editing. We all took part in different roles on the day to all give us experience of how to use the equipment and film shots which we thought would look effective

Problems on our first day of filming

Diary Of A Day Shooting

Location: Beth's House
When: 21st October 2013

What: We firstly started off creating a set in Beth's house which consisted of  a black back drop which Nicole would then stand in front of. We created this for a photoshoot and close ups of Nicole's face for some lip syncing scenes for our music video. This included an hour to start with to sort out Nicole's look, for example- doing her hair, make-up and costumes. We then wanted do a photoshoot which we could put on our social media sites to raise awareness and promote our work, these pictures would also get used for our blog to personalise and make more professional.
The close up filming shots of the lip syncing consisted of lip gems on Nicoles lips to give a pop feel to the shots and to fit in with the genre, she also has short shots of her with shisha smoke coming out her mouth and filtering up her face.

Some problems we encountered when filming and taking the pictures was the lighting of the room. This appeared on the camera as very bright and we needed to do something to adapt it to make it look more professional and have a better finish. We then set up the spot lights which are then connected to the camera and acts as a flash at a specific colour to make them clearer pictures. Once this had been set up we could take many more pictures and then start to film the lip syncing. This gave a good effect on the camera as Nicole's bright lip gems shon through more against a black background and the high quality of camera could make Nicole in focus completely.

Vine Uploads

Our group have been using Vine to present our ideas towards our music video:

Vine is a mobile app owned by Twitter that enables its users to create and post short video clips. The service was introduced with a maximum clip length of six seconds and can be shared or embedded on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Though Vine was initially available for iOS devices, Twitter had been working on bringing the app to other platforms. This shows that this app is fresh and new and already gaining popularity and getting bigger. Our group decided this was a good way to present our work and preparation for our music video that we are creating. We used the Vine app on my phone to record things such as our location ideas and costume ideas. We're using Vine to present our ideas to our target audience, and as a new and popular app, we believe this is the best way to get across to our audience.

Costume Ideas

As a group, we met up and discussed outfit ideas for our music video. We all individually provided clothes that we thought would suit our genre and song. These are the outfits we have established and decided we will 100% use at least 6 out of the 9 outfits shown in the Picstitch.
Below is evidence that we are publishing our ideas to the users of Instagram to advertise our work for our music video.
